Behind Closed Doors

Description

Olive is a 16-year-old girl who lives with her 13-year-old introverted brother Jax in an often empty yet lavish home. Their mother, Claire, is a talk show host therapist who caters to her “patients” through their telephone calls. Olive seeks a connection to her mother through her television show by calling in and pretending to be different characters. A cry for attention that goes unnoticed. Clair is rarely home and as a result of her neglect towards the children, Olive must care for the family in ways that a young girl cannot handle alone. When the family pet fish dies as a result of carelessness, Olive reaches her breaking point and decides to give her mother a taste of her own medicine by calling in, this time as herself. She attempts to prove to viewers who her mother really is as opposed to what she preaches. In a last attempt at a relationship, Olive is shocked by the discovery that before she can make her point, her mother has recognized her.
